C045 Southern Diversion Stage 2 and MAW Dam
Pentacon was engaged as the principal contractor for the construction of a Mine affected water dam at Pembroke’s Olive Downs Complex.
The Dam acts as a catchment for all Mine Water runoff with a Design capacity of 2065ML.
Scope of Works:
The MAW Dam was made up of more than 100,000m³ of different clay materials as well as sand diaphragms. Pentacon efficiently constructed the MAW dam by simultaneously excavating a Diversion drain to act as the supply material for the dam. This was planned the specific testing throughout the Diversion drain to ensure the correct material was used throughout the dam. Part of the Construction of the Dam was 3x 1000mm PE pipes the were Concrete encased and run through the Dam

Win, Haul and Place 100,000m³ of Clay material to engineered specifications.
Install 3 x 1000mm x 72m PE Pipes
Steel fix and concrete encase 50m along PE pipes in specific staging.
Excavation and Foundation preparation including a 3m wide key trench.
20m wide Spillway with Rock protection.
2.4km long Diversion Drain
1km of Gravel wearing coarse.
