C048 Access Road and HV Haul Road Culverts

 

Pentacon acted as the Principal Contractor for a 4-culvert package at Pembroke Olive Downs Mine.

Three sets of Culverts are under the main Mine Access Road and One is in a diversion drain as a Heavy Vehicle Crossing including Mine Haul Trucks (Autonomous and Manned).

 

The CSP Culverts Installation project, executed by the Principal Contractor Pentacon, stands as a testament to the successful integration of innovative engineering solutions for efficient water management beneath critical mine transportation infrastructure. This project exemplifies the durability, cost-effectiveness, and adaptability of Corrugated Steel Pipe (CSP) culverts.

  • Efficient Water Flow Management: The primary objective was to enhance the flow of water beneath Access Roads and Haul Roads.

  • Durability and Resilience: The project aimed to implement a robust culvert system that could withstand environmental challenges, including seismic activity and heavy water flow, thereby ensuring the longevity of the infrastructure.

  • Cost-Effective Solutions: With a focus on cost efficiency, the project sought to utilise readily available and affordable materials, minimising overall project costs without compromising on quality or performance.

  • Timely and Efficient Installation: Pentacon aimed to complete the installation within the stipulated timeframe prior to the rain season, taking advantage of the lightweight nature of CSP culverts to streamline transportation and installation processes.

Special Features:

  • Installation of the following stormwater culverts, located on the On Lease Access Road:

    • 9 x 2100mm CSP

    • 2 x 1050mm CSP

    • 3 x 1500mm CSP

  • Excavation and foundation preparation including remove and replace of unsuitable material

  • Import and preparation of bedding

  • Supply and installation of inlet and outlet grouted rock protection.

  • Installation of 10 2.4m cell HV culvert crossing at the nominated point and backfill to 3m above the top of pipe.

  • Stabilised sand backfill -280m³

  • Imported rock for rock protection-2300m³

  • 10 x 2.4m CSP culverts @92m long
