Construction of Lagoon Creek Crossing - New Acland Mine

 

Pentacon was engaged as the principal contractor for the construction of Lagoon Creek Crossing at New Acland Mine.

The scope of works was to construct a new haul road which crossed Lagoon Creek to support the operating of the Willeroo open cut pit.

 
  • Construction of pavement layers including select fill, base course and wearing course with all materials processed on site utilising sandstone and basalt stockpiles

  • Bulk excavation for haul road

  • Bulk excavation of diversion channel

  • Installation of diversion drain and bund

  • Installation and maintenance of sediment controls

  • Ground surface treatment to pavement footprint

  • Installation of drainage pipes, aprons and debris grates

  • Construction of concrete spillway slab - 700m3

  • Installation of geotextile and rock batter and scour protection

  • Installation of signs and poles, including bored or other foundations, for Koala detection and warning signals

  • Installation of concrete pads for solar panels and associated conduiting

  • Installation of koala fencing and refuge poles

Special Features:

  • Works staged and completed so to minimise environmental disturbance and alteration of existing features and processes.

  • Construction and maintenance of diversion drain and protective works as necessary to prevent surface drainage flow and ground water entering various parts of the works

  • Construction plant with noise attenuation specification provided so to ensure that noise levels of construction actives recorded below 42Dba at monitoring locations
